Getting Started

So here is the plan. Sell almost everything! Buy a fifth wheel, pack up the kids, pack up the animals and hit the road! We have 53 Acres in the hills to explore and develop!

What started as my Mom and I having a cup of coffee and talking about packing up our family and starting completely over. We talked about the freedom that growing our own food and harvesting our own livestock would allow us. A little dream/ silly conversation over too many cups of coffee led us to looking up property in Idaho. And then sending out joking texts with listings attached. Everyone texted back that they were in. We all laughed a lot and made it a joke at first. Then it kept getting brought up in conversation again and again. Until finally my Dad said he was going to go look at property in Idaho. My parents made a trip over, then my sister and her family and eventually Alex and I as well. We were driving the 9ish hours to Idaho multiple time a month to look at property. And finally my parents came to the most amazing spot! It felt like home! Light talk of making a change started in May of 2021 and we sealed the deal in August of  the same year.

My parents have been living on our property for 14 months now. Which I have honestly truly enjoyed. But the end of next month they will be moving into trailer park along with my sister and her little family, they have been living with us for about three months since the sale of their home. We are preparing to list our home here soon and move into our own trailer. Thing are starting to get real! Once we list things will really real!

Fast forward now! Because all the above info is “old news”. We are a few weeks away from what we call the exodus! We are wrapping up final details here in Central Oregon. This is truly going to be an adventure of a lifetime!

Ok 👌🏽 So we have been home/ the new property for 4 days! It’s been raining pretty much the whole time. We did laundry… so go ahead and laugh cause I am laughing. It’s still not dry! I wish I were kidding..

But let’s get back to the positive! We’re taking hot showers now. We got water down from the spring and have been filling our tanks. The animals now have a pond with constant fresh water! That makes my heart so happy!

The kids are thriving. They are disgusting.. but happy. Such dirt clods! Bailee can split wood now with a full size splitting mail. Gwen is a mobile mud pie, her and clay are adorable and Mischievous!

Amber and Garret got their solar going yesterday. I’m sure once we get some sunshine it will feel like a larger accomplishment! Haha the sun is elusive these days. We start our solar kit tomorrow and will be putting up the greenhouse as well!

Today was a supply run. We are returning in the dark and to an inch of snow. We were able to restock grocerys and get some storage buildings so we look less like a homeless camp and more like sophisticated hillbillies… 😆

Bailee has been joining my dad in the mornings for breakfast and cocoa. She get he’s firewood and they get a roaring fire going in the stove and chit chat. It’s adorable!

Mom will be joining us next week! Can’t wait to see her settle in!

That’s all for now guys! We’re about to lose service again!
